Ste. Madeleine Secondary will be celebrating 50 years as an institution on September 6th, 2026. Our theme for this celebration is Honouring Our Legacy, Building Our Future. We are embarking on hosting our first Invitational 5K road race to commemorate this milestone on Saturday 7th November, 2026.

Our school’s Mission statement is “To develop the intellectual, emotional, social, physical, aesthetic and cultural potential of our students and to provide a safe, respectful environment where students acquire self-worth, experience success and become lifelong learners.” We are on a mission to give the school a much needed facelift.

A significant part of our school’s student population comes from low to middle income homes headed by single parents. In the beginning our school was set in the middle of agricultural land, mainly sugar cane fields. With the passage of time our school fell into a state of disrepair and stagnation. Now, our surrounding space has become more urbanized. The need for modernizing our school is urgent as educational needs have evolved as we aim to prepare our students for the technological age.

The entire school, including the Multi-Purpose Hall, needs painting. The hall needs 300 chairs, 50 6-foot folding tables, an overhead projector with screen and industrial wall fans. Our Library and IT Lab need 40 laptops. Our student and staff bathrooms, temperature conditions in the 20 classrooms (air-conditioning units), the farm, the music room, the football field and general lighting around the school need improvement. In addition, our 42 steelpans need to be refurbished and tuned in preparation for Secondary Schools’ Panorama 2027.

We cannot meet our goals without the help of our past students, teachers, well-wishers, residents of Ste. Madeleine and the business community. We are reaching out, seeking assistance in covering the cost attached to completing the restoration and refurbishing plans mentioned above.
