My name is Xerxes Seales, and I’m reaching out today with a heart full of hope and gratitude, because, by the grace of God and the skill of dedicated medical professionals, I survived a massive heart attack on 10th August, 2024. Then again February 2025 and most recently had some medical complications due to my lungs which took place on Saturday 5th July 2025. I was in my bedroom when my heart first stopped, and I was rushed to Arima General Hospital lifeless. In an unbelievable miracle, a brave doctor climbed onto my trolley and performed chest compressions that dislodged the blood clot blocking my heart. I began breathing again and with that breath, received a precious gift, my life.

My Journey to recovery was a trying one. From a few days in the ICU to Cardio Ward where I was well looked after by my team of doctors and nurses.

I am now Diagnosed with a rare thyroid disorder linked to rapid weight gain, Heart failure at 45% ejection fraction (which at present is at 30 Percent), compromising multiple organ systems, Blood clots in lungs, Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), high blood pressure, and diabetes.

Surgeries on the Horizon, Thanks to the Government of Trinidad & Tobago’s health care, I’ve been blessed with free heart surgery (or angioplasty) and bariatric surgery. These procedures are vital to saving my life and restoring my health.

While I am blessed with these surgeries, there are obstacles remaining. Costly Pre-Surgical Testing. Comprehensive cardiac, endocrine, and metabolic tests are required before surgery, and the expense of these investigations is prohibitive.

Along with these requirements I require daily Medication, one being Clexane. I depend on Clexane injections, 240 mg daily (4 injections of 60 mg each) to dissolve existing clots and prevent new ones. At TT$780 per day, the cost quickly adds up.

Why I Need Your Help

While the surgeries themselves are covered, the pre-operative tests and daily Clexane medication are not. These essential components of my treatment plan amount to thousands of dollars in out of pocket expenses.

Pre-Surgical Testing can run to Approx. TT$50,000. Daily Clexane Injections is at TT$780 × 30 days = TT$23,400 per month

Without these critical steps, I cannot undergo surgery or safely manage my clotting risks. Every test, every injection, and every dollar brings me one step closer to the operating room and to a future where I can stand on my own two feet again.
