THE ICONS presents Ms Francine Edwards, better known in the calypso art-form by the sobriquet 'Singing Francine'. The Bajan Born, Trini bred legacy joined the Trini-calypso industry when she migrated here in the late 1950's and later became a background vocalist for Kitchener and the Mighty Sparrow. Francine went on to become a solo act and released several classical calypso and dance hits over the years. As an Icon in the local art-form, Singing Francine has taken on hurdles such as discrimination and prejudice to make an immense contribution to the development of calypso and paved the way for many females in the art-form.
The female powerhouse will grace the WACK 90.1fm virtual stage on Tuesday 14th July, 2020 from 6pm. We invite listeners and friends now emerging from the confines of the pandemic, to join us in developing our new normal once again as another of Trinidad's musical stalwarts brings her sweet renditions with classics such as Have I Told You, Next To You, That Wonderful Song, Lay Back In The Arms and Always On My Mind.
