Elijah Jitmansingh is a vibrant, kind-hearted 15-year-old boy whose dreams have been sidelined by a rare and devastating condition known as Kienböck’s Disease. It has affected his right (dominant) hand.
Once a natural leader with a bright spark for life, Elijah excelled in sports like Dragon Boating, Muay Thai, and Badminton. Currently, Elijah swims developmentally for both his Alma Mater and a Southern-based Swim Club. At first, we thought the pain in his hand was insignificant — the usual sprains and strains that come with an active lifestyle. We used wristbands, ice packs and patience, hoping it would heal.
Sadly, it didn’t. After countless months, escalating and consistent pain, we finally discovered the heartbreaking truth: Elijah’s lunate bones in his right wrist were dying and collapsing from the inside out — a silent, relentless disease had been stealing his strength and dreams.
By the time we had a diagnosis, much of the damage had been done. Elijah had lost the full range of mobility in his hand. He had to give up the sports he loved. We watched our once-outgoing, confident son become withdrawn and discouraged. He bravely tries to keep his spirits up, but the relentless pain — and the fact that any physical activity can only exacerbate the conditon — weighs heavily on him.
Today, we are asking for your support.
We have found a specialist, Dr. James Higgins, an Orthopedic Surgeon with the Curtis National Hand Center in Baltimore, USA, who offers a groundbreaking surgical technique that could restore Elijah’s hand function and give him a chance at a full, active life once more.
The cost of the surgery is an estimated US$60,000.
Without health insurance, the financial burden is overwhelming.
We are humbly and sincerely asking you to help Elijah reclaim his future.
No donation is too small — and every act of kindness brings him one step closer to hope.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping our son find his light again.
