I never imagined I would be here, asking strangers for help — but as a mother, my pride comes second to my children’s safety.

Right now, my kids and I are living in an unfinished house.
There are no windows, no doors, and no ceiling.

When it rains, water comes inside.
When the sun is hot, there is no escape from the heat.
At night, I lie awake worrying — not just about today, but about what happens if nothing changes.

I am a single mother who left an abusive relationship, took out a protection order, and chose safety over everything else. I live in the Caribbean, where GoFundMe isn’t available, so I’m using this platform in hope that kindness still reaches us.

Earlier this year, despite everything, I achieved something I am incredibly proud of:
I purchased a piece of land through a mortgage.
I am the first person in my entire family to own property without inheriting anything.

I did this because I promised myself one thing —
that my children would one day have a safe, clean, secure home they could be proud of.

But life has been unkind.

Over the years, I became the sole breadwinner for my extended family, taking out loans to make sure everyone survived. Then, in January 2023, my health collapsed. I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, followed by a heart attack, a minor stroke, hypertension, and more recently, depression.

Today, I carry a personal debt of USD $39,700 — debt that is preventing me from qualifying for the financing I need to move forward and build a home for my children.

I am not unemployed.
I am not asking for handouts to build a house.

I am asking for help with one thing only:
to clear this debt so I can financially qualify to bridge my land mortgage and finally build a safe home for my kids.
