Help Bring a New Trinidad & Tobago Game Show to Television

For the past six years, I have been developing a television game show built specifically for a Trinidad & Tobago audience. It is a fast-paced quiz show that tests contestants on what they know — and what they think they know — about Trinidad & Tobago, the Caribbean and the wider world. The idea has gone through years of writing, rewriting, testing, restructuring and refinement. The question bank now contains more than 500 questions, the game format has been developed and tested, a host is ready to come on board, and prizes have been secured. The project is now at the stage where the next step is to shoot the pilot episode.

Why do we need a pilot?

The pilot will allow me to demonstrate the finished concept to potential television partners, advertisers and sponsors. Rather than simply asking people to invest in an idea, I want to be able to show them what the programme actually looks and feels like. That is why I am raising seed money to produce the pilot.

What will your contribution help to fund?

The funds raised will go toward the production costs of creating a professional-quality pilot, including the technical and production requirements needed to properly present the programme. The total pilot budget is TT$15,000.

Why crowdfunding?

Getting corporate support for a television programme at the idea stage can be a difficult sell. Advertisers and sponsors understandably want to see what they are putting their money behind. So instead of waiting for corporate support to make the pilot possible, I am asking individuals to help me take the project to that next stage. This isn't about funding an unfinished idea. The idea has been developed. The game has been tested. The questions are ready. The host is ready. The prizes are ready. Now we need to shoot it.
