Hi everyone, I am reaching out today to share the story of my brave daughter, Shanalica Leslie. Shanalica’s journey started earlier than expected when she was born premature. From her very first breath, she has been a tiny fighter, overcoming every obstacle placed in her way. However, we have reached a hurdle that she cannot clear without your help. Because she was born so early, Shanalica’s ear canals did not have the chance to fully form. Currently, she lives in a world of silence. She cannot hear the sound of her own name, the laughter of her family, or the lullabies we sing to her at night. The Goal: Giving Shanalica the Gift of Sound Doctors have informed us that Shanalica requires ear canal surgery (Canalplasty) to create an opening for sound to travel to her inner ear. This surgery is a medical necessity. Without it, her ability to learn language, speak, and interact with the world around her will be severely delayed. We are dreaming of the day Shanalica’s face lights up because she finally hears us say 'I love you' for the very first time. We are raising funds to cover: The Surgical Procedure: Specialized reconstruction of the ear canals. Pre-Op Scans: CT scans and hearing tests to map her ear structure.
