Earlier this year, Ronaldo's life changed suddenly. At just 23 years old, while training on a commercial vessel in Trinidad, he became seriously ill- so much that even basic daily tasks became extremely difficult. He had to leave the vessel early to seek medical attention. Initial tests revealed a dangerously low blood count, a swollen liver & spleen, enlarged lymph nodes and a white mass across his chest. A lymph node biopsy confirmed Rosai Dorfman Disease, a rare condition that brought strict dietary restrictions, daily fevers, severe fatigue and weight loss.

Despite these challenges, Ronaldo stayed determinded to fight. When the pain and fever became severe, he sought private care and medications helped stabilize him. However; further testing- including a bone marrow biopsy and scans at the Hospital revealed a second devastating diagnosis: EBV-associated Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma, Stage 4, with bone marrow involvement.

At only 23, Ronaldo is facing both a rare disease and an aggressive cancer. With courage, faith and hope he immediately began chemotherapy at the public hospital, follows a neutropenia diet and takes daily medications to support his recovery. Thankfully, his appetite has returned, the fevers has stopped and he is ready to continue the fight.
