Leanna Mahadeo is a vibrant nine year old who was recently diagnosed with a brain AVM (Arteriovenous Malformation). A brain AVM is a tangle of abnormal blood vessels connecting arteries and veins in the brain. When the AVM ruptures, it results in bleeding in the brain. This happened to Leanna a month ago and she spent two weeks at SFGH inclusive of 1 week in ICU. Those two weeks were unbearable and we never want her to go through that again. The doctors informed that it is necessary to begin treatment as soon as possible to prevent this from reoccurring, or anything worse.
The first part of treatment is an embolization procedure which will be done at St. Clair Medical is costing $137,200.00. Following this, further treatment (stereotactic radiosurgery) may be required at Miami at a much greater cost.
