Aubree Sharma is a 30 pound 5 year old who has the following health concerns. While her dad and I have made wvery sacrifice possible including leaving my job to stay at home and care for her, we recently found out she needs surgery urgently.
Aubree has been diagnosed with
1. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
2. Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) for which she's currently in Feeding therapy. It has helped stave off the nine hospital visits in the past two years.
3. Global Developmental Delay. At her last Developmental check up Aubree was found to have the mental capacity of a 3 year old.
4. BILATERAL OTITIS MEDIA WITH EFFUSION (OME)
This means that there is a build up of fluid in both middle ears. This causes muffled/decreased hearing and speech delays which has already been present due to her Autism. To treat this holes will have to be drilled into her ears and TYMPANOSTOMY TUBES or "grommets"/ear tubes will need to be inserted into the eardrum to ventilate the middle ear and equalize pressure which should prevent reaccumulation of fluid behind the eardrum and hearing loss which can result from chronic fluid build-up.
5. ADENOTONSILLAR HYPERTROPHY. This is the enlargement of the adenoids and tonsils which commonly causes airway obstruction and Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). If left untreated this can affect her growth, behavior and heart and lung function.
Aubree needs surgery to have her tonsils and adenoids removed as well as to have the grommets placed in her ears to continuously drain the fluid that builds up in her middle ear.
With all the challenges Aubree faces on a daily basis, just to live, I couldn't imagine her losing her hearing also and suffering from Sleep Apnea.
We have invested every cent we have into private special needs school, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Art and Music Therapy, now Feeding Therapy that our pockets are empty. This was the first term we were not able to send her to school due to financial constraints. Nothing broke us more than failing her in that way. We are asking kindly for a donation of any amount, every drop in the bucket helps.
The public health care system has given us an appointment for June 2026 for a consultation to find out everything we discovered in numbers 4 and 5. The reason we went privately for that was because Aubree kept banging her head on the floor on the side with more fluid and she had 2 ear infections for 2025.
There are more than 300 children awaiting this same surgery in the Public Health Care system. By the time we wait our turn Aubree may be deaf. Please help us give our little girl the medical procedure she needs.
Thank you.
